Gombe State Rural Development Council (GSRDC) was established by Gombe State Government of Nigeria with the mission of facilitating the rapid, even and sustainable development of Gombe State into a state that is economically prosperous, socially stable, ecologically regenerative and politically peaceful..
THE GSRDC MANDATE
*Formulation of policies and guidelines for the development of Gombe State.
*Conception, planning and implementation, in accordance with set rules and regulations, of projects and programs for sustainable development of Gombe State in the field of transportation including roads, health, employment, industrialization, agriculture, housing and urban development, water supply, electricity and telecommunications.
*Surveying the Gombe State in order to ascertain measures necessary to promote its physical and socio-economic development.
*Preparing master plans and schemes designed to promote the physical development of Gombe State.
*Implementation of all the measures approved for the development of the Gombe State by the Gombe State Government.
*Identify factors inhibiting the development of Gombe State and assisting Local Governments in the State in the formulation and implementation of policies to ensure sound and efficient management of the resources of Gombe State.
*Assessing and reporting on any project being funded or carried out in the state including non-governmental organizations, as well as ensuring that funds released for such projects are properly utilized.
*Executing such other works and performing such other functions, which in the option of the organization are required for the sustainable development of Gombe State and its people.
Keeping in view the socio-economic scenario of the developing country of Nigerian state, GSRDC is mandated to address both agriculture and rural development. GSRDC should make "Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development" its main goal. In line with this goal, the Organization should have its own Vision and Mission that would provide proper direction to the activities of the Organization and the results it can achieve. As a result, the Vision, Mission and Objective of GSRDC should be as follows:
The Vision of GSRDC is "to improve the quality of life of the rural people in the state. Our Vision is to develop understanding among the people for better appreciation of each other's problems and to explore opportunities for collaboration of efforts for sustainable agricultural and rural and urban development.
To collaborate with the appropriate international and regional organizations, including UN agencies, the national bodies, governmental or non-governmental, both in the developed and developing countries, for purposes of taking action to accelerate agriculture and rural development in the region.
To hold international and regional conferences, seminars, workshops and meetings to facilitate exchange of ideas and experiences among the people and to identify new areas of collaboration;
To organize and facilitate the conduct of international, state and in-country training programmes to strengthen the institutional capacity of the people in sustainable agriculture and rural development and promote networking among these people through exchange of views, experiences and good practices;
To initiate research and action research studies of specific or common interest and disseminate disaggregated data/statistics and information to the people;
To provide technical and financial support to the people of the state and to undertake pilot projects for experimentation and replication;
To serve as a clearing house and data bank for communication and information on agriculture, rural and urban development and promote dissemination of such information through multi-media approach; and to pursue environment and climatic changes in the context of rural and urban development.
The Mission of GSRDC is "to catalyse efforts of the people of the state, to help them restructure their rural societies and to reconstruct the economy of their rural people, by launching concerted, and wherever possible, cooperative action with determination, by the people of the region as follows.

The rights of all children and women especially young girls are respected, protected and fulfilled.
All children, women and young girls have access to care, education and opportunities so that they can become healthy and productive citizens.
All the communities have the resources they need to care for their orphans and vulnerable children, less privileged young and old male and female.
All our staff that are engaged in the effort to assist children, women, less privileges and displaced are committed to working collaboratively.
To provide food to the needy and also agricultural equipment and material to teach the local people the effective ways of farming so that they can better take care of their future.
To provide water to communities with bad or no drinking water and dig wells and bore holes in the most effected areas where water is needed mostly.
